==DISCUSSION==
A MAJOR WINTER STORM FROM KANSAS HAS MOVED OVER CENTRAL LAKE
MICHIGAN THIS AFTERNOON AND WILL CROSS LAKE HURON AND GEORGIAN
BAY TONIGHT TO NEAR OTTAWA SATURDAY.

WEATHER RADAR SHOWS A HUGE AREA OF SNOW ALONG AND NORTH OF THE
TRACK OF THIS STORM EXTENDING FROM OTTAWA ACROSS EASTERN ONTARIO AND
THE OTTAWA VALLEY INTO NORTHEASTERN ONTARIO AND OVER THE UPPER GREAT
LAKES INTO THE US MIDWEST.

SNOWFALL AMOUNTS OF 15 TO 25 CM ARE LIKELY BY THE TIME THE SNOW
TAPERS OFF IN THE WAKE OF THE STORM CENTRE ON SATURDAY. A LITTLE
FREEZING RAIN IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING UNTIL
THE STORM CENTRE PASSES BY. PRECIPITATION MAY ALSO BRIEFLY CHANGE TO
RAIN IN THE SOUTHERNMOST REGIONS AS TEMPERATURES TRY TO SNEAK TO
JUST ABOVE FREEZING. HOWEVER AS THE STORM CENTRE PASSES BY COLDER
AIR WILL ENSURE A CHANGEOVER TO ALL SNOW BY SATURDAY MORNING FOR THE
ENTIRE DISTRICT.

HAZARDOUS TRAVELLING CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED WITH LOW TO AT TIMES
NEARLY NIL VISIBILITY IN PERIODS OF HEAVY SNOW AND LOCAL BLOWING
SNOW FROM BRISK EASTERLY WINDS IN ADVANCE OF THE STORM CENTRE.

OVER AREAS NEAR THE SHORE OF EASTERN LAKE ERIE..VERY STRONG
SOUTHWEST WINDS OF 60 GUSTING TO 80 KM/H ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP
OVERNIGHT IN THE WAKE OF A COLD FRONT SLICING THROUGH THE DISTRICT.
THE VERY STRONG WINDS WILL CONTINUE INTO SATURDAY MORNING AND MAY
CAUSE LOCAL ZERO VISIBILITY IN WHITEOUT CONDITIONS FROM ANY FRESH
SNOW THAT WILL HAVE FALLEN SATURDAY.

IN THE WAKE OF THIS STORM LATER ON SATURDAY STRONG NORTHWESTERLY
WINDS WILL BRING IN ANOTHER 10 TO 15 CM OF SNOW ALONG WITH
POSSIBLE SNOWSQUALLS IN THE SNOW BELT REGIONS TO THE SOUTHEAST OF
LAKE HURON AND GEORGIAN BAY. SNOWSQUALL WARNINGS MAY BE
REQUIRED FOR THESE REGIONS.

PLEASE REFER TO THE LATEST PUBLIC FORECASTS FOR FURTHER DETAILS.
