Downtown.

同意。起码头一、二年,很方便。

I don't think downtown is a good choice if they are planning to buy a car.

My friends lived in downtown when they first moved to Ottawa, but the apartment building said the parking lots all had waiting list and if they rented the parking in the next building, it would be very expensive > $120/month each car. Thus, they parked on the street, and in winter, every morning at like 4am or so, they had to get up from sleep and went down in freezing weather to move the car elsewhere.

I lived in St. Laurent and Bayshore before and I think both are convenient. The rent in St. Laurent seems to be a bit lower though.

If you have a car, find a quiet community. if you have no car, look into the bus map and choose a place near a main station of the transitway,Baseline at Woodroff(Center Point), Lincoln field, Westboro, St.Laurent, Lees, Billing Bridge etc. Not recommended: South Key, Lower Town, Downtown, Vanier. they are the worst areas of crime for security reason.

Where is lower town?

Lower Town comes from the French 'Basse-Ville'. It is a traditionally francophone area in Ottawa east of the Byward Market, North of Rideau Street, and West of Vanier.
