In after-hours trading action Thursday, Lawson Software (NYSE:LWSN), 3Com (NYSE:COMS), Adobe Systems (NYSE:ADBE), and Solectron (NYSE: SLR) all reported earnings thatwill likely have a bearing on Friday's performance.
Desktop Publishing software developer Adobe beat the street with first-quarter earnings of 50 cents a share, vs. 23 cents a share in the year-ago period. Thomson First Call analysts were looking for 40 cents a share.
Tech firm Solectron met estimates with a second-quarter net loss of $90 million, or 11 cents a share, on revenue of $2.9 billion. Excluding charges, Solectron lost $16 million, or 2 cents a share.
Networking equipment maker 3Com lost $86 million, or 22 cents a share, in the third-quarter. A year ago, 3Com lost $79 million, or 20 cents a share, on $216.5 million in revenue.
Lawson Software reported third-quarter net income of $2.6 million, or 2 cents a share, meeting Wall Street estimates. Last year, the maker of financial and human-resources software posted a net loss of $711,000, or 1 cent a share. Excluding one-time items, Lawson said it earned $3.5 million, or 3 cents a share, up from $574,000, or 1 cent a share, in the same period last year.
