One card is connecting to Rogers cable modem and i am planning to use other 2 cards to connect 2 pc directly instead of using HUB. Is it possible?
OS are win98 2E on my both PCs. Do i need to install Wingate or other programs. Anybody who is familiar with that or has some idea? Pls. give me some detailed info. about TCP/IP setting.

1..如果你用的是win98 第二版以后的系统,包括win98 SE,Winme,XP,win2000,etc. 就用系统自带的ICS(Internet Connection Sharing), 由它给其它的机器分配动态IP地址,其它的机器需要DHCP,即在control panel/networks TCP/IP属性中指定"自动获取IP地址".如果是WIN98 第二版的机器做PROXY,就要装两块网卡.
2.win98 第一版和win95各版本,建议升级到win98第二版以后的系统,或参见3.
3.如果你不愿意用ICS或是在某些系统上ICS装不上(我在朋友家的SYmpatico上就装不上),可以用第三方PROXY软件,著名的有Wingate,winroute, winproxy,sygate.原理都是一样的.

通常在只有两台机器时,可以用CROSSOVER的网线连接,注意不是普通的网线.其它同上.
共享的局限:
如果是用ICS,在PROXY端无需任何设置,每台机器都可以用MSN和YAHOO MESSENGER的语音功能,如果是用第三方PROXY软件通常用改一些设置,具体请察看相应的HELP.
做PROXY的机器一定要开着,否则谁也别想上网.</HTML>

For the card connect to cable modem, just configure it as What rogers requires, actually yo udon't need to install ANY software from Rogers, what you need is to give your PC a "identification" in control panel/networks, and set it up as my posting above. ICS will configure the second card.
