我有一个MD, 一个CD/MP3,2个digitalMP3, 我的palm 也可以放mp3.（的确有点撑的。）下面说一下使用感觉。
1。如果200块以下，ｉＰｏｄ就不用考虑。最便宜的ｉＰｏｄ（ｍｉｎｉ）恐怕也要ＣＡＤ３５０以上。
２。ＣＤ／ｍｐ３比较大，没有明显的技术优势。比较便宜。唯一的长处是，烤一个ｍｐ３ＣＤ，里面可以放１０个小时的（１２８ｋ）歌。一般的ｍｐ３都在２－４小时容量。
３。ｍｉｎｉＤｉｓｃ是声音最好的。it has 3 mode: CD, 2xCD, 4xCD. In the CD and 2xCD mode, the sound quality is as good as regular CD. If you want to listen to Classical music all the time, Get an MD. Also, the cheapest MD is about $125, and for functionality perspective, no difference to $499 top line. (Of course, the $499 is thinner and cutter). You need to buy disks for it, usually cost $3-4 per disc here. Each disk can store up to 280 minutes music if you select 4xCD mode. The disadvantage is it's using a disc, so, it has phyiscal moving parts. Don't drop it to floor so frequently.
4. digital mp3. There are memeory mp3, usually from 128M to 256M, (but 256MB ones are about $229 to $349). And Hard Disk MP3 (like iPod, and other brands), they cheapest ones (1.5G) will above $300. Personally, I'm a fun of hard disk players, because: you donnt' need to put all of your collections of music in your mp3, high capacity (HD mp3 are from 1.5G to 40G) are not that important; and the hard disk mp3 are first generation product, so, quite problematic; and they have a hard disk in the player, it's haveier, try to drop a 20 pound dumpbell on it, hope you get the extended warranty. I did it once with my Rio sports MP3, it keeps playing well without a scratch. Also, some memory mp3's capacity can be extended by adding a SD/MMC card, so, you can also store 500M or 1G into it.
5. to my understanding, iRivers are good and cute, but they are not memory expendable. Rio's are memory expendable.Also, Rio's can RCA's can be upgraded to support future formats like MP3 Pro, while iRivers can not.
6. Generally, most people can not even feel the difference b/w the 128k encoded MP3 and the original CD. Especially if you are not listening to the classical music. I even tried play the beethoven piano concerto 5 in my palm, it's not that bad.
