Today, some of you may have come in contact with an email stating that on March 29th, a woman was jogging along Colonel By in the area of Bank Street Bridge and suddenly a man approached her. He allegedly asked her to go for coffee. She refused and walked away to be accosted again a few minutes later by the same man jumping out of bushes.
The Ottawa Police Major Crime investigators have spoken to the woman
who reported this sighting. The email circulating is inaccurate.
What in fact happened is that the woman was jogging on the path and was accosted by a man. He asked her to go for coffee. She declined and left. She called the police and reported this encounter. She was
advised to look at the composite of the suspect on the website and
after doing so she stated that the man did have resemblance to the
composite picture of the suspect.
This is considered as a tip and was entered as a tip like hundreds of
other tips the Ottawa Police has received. It will be investigated as such. The suspect in the Ardeth Wood murder is still outstanding. The investigation is ongoing.
Anyone with information, or who meets a person who looks like the suspect composite picture, is asked to call the Ottawa Police tip line at 236-1222 ext: 3563 or 3564.

This is an opportunity to remind the public once again and especially
women, to exercise caution. Summer is coming and outdoor activities are starting.
* If you go on the bicycle paths, why not be with a friend
* Bring a cell phone
* Tell a friend where you are going and when to expect you back
* Do not stop and talk to strangers
* Report anything that seems strange
* Stay where the paths are well lit, don't go in remote areas alone
Always be aware and be prepared.
