不是不能上网查询,是CIC把你的资料放到网上需要一定时间.

Theortically yes. Some things to know though:
1. you may be contacted for fingerprint, which will make the case to be longer, and may need to renew the background check.
2. the exam and oath notice usually arrived 2-3 weeks before the exam date, you may not be able to get a ticket to fly here in that short time period.
Other than the above two, things will go fine.

很多人这样做了,没有问题,最多也就是可能得多回两趟,比如万一要你做个指纹什么的.

My experience,
At first I feel very uncomfortable,and believe I will return to Canada soon.
Then I got a job, not highly paid, but interesting.
Two month later, I got a letter, asking me to take the citizenship test, but I cannot get the flight ticket. So I didn't attend the test.
March this year, my boss said he is very satisfied with my performance, and give me new a task, a big and interesting project. He also asked me to renew my Chinese passport, because the new task may require me travel a lot.
This month I got another letter, asking me again to take the citizenship test. This time, i got the flight ticket and my boss said he dosen't want lose me and will help me get the working permit. But at this moment, Canadian citizenship is not of much attraction to me. My family split,some of them hope I stay in China and forget Canada, others suggest me get citizenship first. I feel tired and my parents worries about my future. And I found out that I cares more about my current job than that Canadian citizenship. I just hope the test will not affect the progress of the project.
So my suggestion is: stay in Canada, get your citizenship and then return to China. Don't leave yourself any space to hesitate, to regret. Otherwise, you will get yourself into troubles. This is not merely a problem of money.
By the way, you can find your application status through internet. But they update their website on a weekly basis. In my case, they update my status on the web on week later after they sent out the test notification. One day after my friend received the letter, CIC changed the status of my web page. Do you think I have enogh time to prepare the trip?
