Packages prompt evacuations at Carleton U.
CTV.ca News Staff
Staff at Carleton University in Ottawa were evacuated from two buildings Wednesday afternoon following the discovery of two suspicious packages.
The scare began around 1:30 ET this afternoon when a package was delivered to the security office in the main administration building. A second package later appeared at another building.
The packages reportedly contained needles and coloured powder.
A special chemical response team was called to the campus and emergency crews conducted tests on employees. There were no reports that anyone showed signs of illness.
A few hours later, the campus was given the all clear.
The envelopes are being sent to Health Canada labs for further testing.
