to look like or behave ( appearance or personality ) like an older member of your family. Grammar: V. + Prep. ( Not used in the progressive tenses )

Example:

Linda takes after her mother. They are both tall and thin.
 
Comment for "Take after sb."

We use “like father, like son” to refer to a boy or man who is like his father in behavior or personality. We can also say “like mother, like daughter”
