An alternative launch is to continue down RR18 to RR1. Go south on RR1 towards Rideau Ferry and find the Yacht Club Conservation Area.
Upper Rideau Lake
Another Rideau Lake, another part of the Rideau Canal. And another one you will want to take Hwy 15 to get to.
To launch, head south on 15, turn west onto Hwy 42 for about 10 km. Keep your eyes open for the public boat launch. If you hit Westport you've gone too far.
Opinicon Lake
Opinicon Lake is one of the lakes that make up the Rideau Canal System. You can launch for five bucks at the Opinicon Hotel's paved ramp. From Smith's Falls head south on Hwy 15. Turn right on to RR9 and head for Chaffey's Locks. The Hotel is about 9 km down RR9.
Newboro Lake
If you're leaving from Ottawa, get to Carleton Place and take Hwy 15 South. Turn right (west) onto Hwy 42 (Crosby) and head for Newboro. Look out for Lock Road and turn left onto it. Then keep your eyes open for the launch. There's a fee to launch and park, but what's a few bucks to fish on this largemouth infested water?
Pike Lake
In the south end of Perth find County Road 10. Follow 10 west. The road will split left off to Stanleyville. Stay right (don't go to Stanleyville) to get to the public boat launch - look for signs. If you are able to see the lake on your left, you have probably missed the boat launch.
