As your may know, the Chinese Community Association of Ottawa (中华会馆) is the oldest and only government-recognized local community association, who should represent all or the majority of the Chinese-Canadians (early and new immigrants, including our next generations for years to come).
中华会馆 is currently run by a board of 27 members elected every
two years by the local Chinese residents. As in the past years, the most members on the current board are considered to be 'early immigrants'(老侨), historically from Tawain and Hong Kong.
Today, there are more 30,000 Chinese living in Ottawa and the majority are professionals working in government organizations, large and small companies, universities, hospitals and private firms.
Accordingly, there is a need to have a board of members who can represent the majority in the local community and send the voices to the Government on behalf of all or the majority.
The two teams (or camps) in campaigne now; one resembles very much the current body of 中华会馆 and another (the "Huang Xingzhong Team) is represented by the professionals with high education from the mainland.
