Well, you must have developed some business relationship with some of your current colleagues. In fact, your colleagues know you much better than your current Manager does because you work together on daily basis. You may give their names (excluding your current Manager of course) as references after you have consulted and obtained permission to do so.
Consult your references to enquire what the preferred time, communication means are in order to answer questions for your prospective employer!
