Job Title: Optical Network Analyst

Job Description:
The PSINet Fiber Management Centre (FMC) is a 7x24 hour network operations centre that provides
OSI physical layer network management, provisioning, maintenance and support for PSINet's Global
SDH and SONET integrated networks in order to ensure the maximum availability of the PSINet IP
network to its customers.
The Optical Network Analyst is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the robustness and
reliability of the fiber network, and performs fault management and service restoration for all
network components.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum of two years related technical experience along with a computing or networking degree,
diploma, or equivalent
Good understanding of SONET/SDH technologies, multiplexors, ethernet, TCP/IP internetworking,
frame relay, etc.
A firm knowledge of Telco and Fiber Provider industry and related technology
Working knowledge of network management systems, and fiber equipment from vendors such as
Nortel, Cisco, Ciena, and Lucent
Working knowledge in many of the operating systems; Solaris, HPUX, Windows NT, CISCO IOS, etc.
Strong telephone, communication and customer orientation skills
Ability to work in a fast paced work team environment
Must be prepared to work all shift rotations
