Due to 小山羊's recommendation, I went to the Petrie Island at the east end of Ottawa instead of the planned west Rideau Valley conservation area exploration today.
The Petrie Islands are a unique wetland and island complex on the Ottawa River downstream from the city of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Most of the area is currently under municipal ownership. The islands and adjacent backwaters provide a rich habitat for many species of wildlife and plants, some fairly rare, and offer a unique opportunity to enjoy a wilderness experience close to a major urban centre.
for more detailed please check here: www.petrieisland.org.
It is very good place for your BBQ, swimming, beach volleyball, hiking, fishing and wildlife exploration. Compared with Mud Lake, it is more like a park, well maintained.
Let's watch the pictures I took.
