general speaking,it should be quite easy to survive in canada if you hold so-called positive attitude.but now I lost this attitude by the time that I will be an citizen of canada.
I believe that you are getting there. As a matter of fact, either living in China or in Canada is just a personal option. Either country is not that perfect. Living in either of them is not an easy thing. It really depends on how and what you intend to accomplish for your life.
In my view, you probably should fix your family problem first before making the next life choice!
I want share some experiences and thoughts to you:
Even when I was in China, I know SA(SUN,NT) and DBA(ORACLE) would be the best job for whole my life. I worked on it, got trainings with my money (compare to Canada, the training in China is Cheaper ),got Certificate.
When I arrived here with almost empty hand($CNDxxxx), I laughed. I got a job offer within 2 weeks ($CND5xxxx) and started my work 3 weeks after the day of landing. After 8 monthes, I swithed to another company with a reasonable level of earning. I just finished an ORACLE training (paid by company).
I am not saying I am rich right now, but I hardly worried about my job security.
What I mean is: get some training or study on UNIX and ORACLE. That's where good and secure job is for a fairly smart IT person!(not a genius)
Forget about windows, only cheap company will have his bussiness mainly on Windows, in this kind of company, what can you expect?!
Programing on java or C++? May good, but not for me. It's boring and hard.
I got my offer after landed 7 months later. no one is willing to suffer bitterness here,
but the real life is bittersweet. Ponder and meditate, what are you really going to to here!!
Never give up..
to lazyboy
frankly speaking, if your experience is after april to june 2001, I have to say admire. if it is in 2000, it is nothing. The job market is so much different according to time.
What Lazy boy said is absolutely true. When I first came to Canada, it is easy to find a IT job(about 2 months). Now I can say I don't expect I can find a job within 6 months. And many of my friends are under the same conditions. With no job and income, I can't see any meaning for living here. Just for fresh air and green grass? It is ridiculous.
Neither of the country is perfect. So where can you find the meaning of life, where should you live. Friends, am I right?
