A small business in the US would like to give me a project to work on. I don't need to go to the US and just need to work remotely in Canada. I don't have a registered company. Is this legal? Do I need any work permit or visa for the US part? (I am immigrant in Canada).

Any one has the similar situation?

Thanks.

I don't think it's illegal to work on this project remotely in Canada, provided that you have an agreement with this US company that you are working on this project under the terms and conditions agreed by you and the US company. The terms and conditions must be very clear on how you will get paid for the work you have done.

Because you are not physically in US, therefore, you don't need any work permit or visa.

If the project is big and involve lots of money, I recommend you to talk to a business lawyer.

Good Luck!
