Applying for children's passport

Hi,

I applied for my son's birth certificate many weeks ago. I am still waiting to receive the birth certificate. Can I apply a passport now for him as we are leaving Canada soon ? How long does it take for the birth certificate and passport to get processed ?

I remember it took me about 2 mons to get the birth certificate for my son. But I think passport is a bit faster. I applied on Mar.8th this year and was told everything would be printed in Toronto and delivered to Ottawa except the ones that you want to be faster and pay extra fees. I got the passport on Mar. 22nd, delivered to my door.

I think you have to have a birth certificate to apply for a passport.

你说的birth certification应该只是birth registry登记，最近处理非常的慢，建议去city hall查询一下，可以催快他们的进度。等拿到birth registry的confirmation letter后再去ontario court办理birth certification很快的，有next business day service。护照一般是10 business days,不过我最近办的只花了5 business day，加急的话也可以是next business day service。

我是3月给儿子登记的，现在还没登记上，你才几个星期，还早呢。
除非你买了机票，然后把机票copy传真给他们，让他们加急，可能在48小时办好，但一定是机票的原件copy才有效。拿到出生证去办护照就快了。
如果你只是短时间出境，你也可以办个travel letter，有这东西也可以办护照，但只有1年有效。
