NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR - OTTAWA
Chipworks is the premiere source of knowledge of what’s inside technology through creative investigation and analysis. We are currently seeking a Network Administrator to join our Information Technology team. You will be responsible for the reliable, efficient and secure operation of network resources, including but not limited to: desktops, servers, switches, routers, firewalls and printers. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Ensuring network resources are reliable and efficient for the day-to-day operations of Chipworks;
Providing on-going support within defined service standards to help Chipworks’ employees’ use of computing and network resources;
Recommending and implementing new technologies to support the day-to-day operations;
Implementing security and account management procedures to protect Chipworks corporate network resources.
The successful candidate must have an in-depth knowledge of network administration as it pertains to a Microsoft Windows client/server environment; supporting Windows 2000 and XP clients with NT-4 Server, 2000 Server and 2003 Server along with Exchange and SQL Server. A working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite and a variety of Adobe products is also required.
The ideal candidate will be MCSE/MCSA certified or working towards certification, and will have experience in NT4 Server to Windows 2000/2003 Server and Exchange 5.5 to Exchange 2000/2003 migrations.
You must have knowledge and experience with:
Switched, multi-subnet TCP/IP networks (including the configuration of DNS, DCHP, WINS, etc.)
Nortel Meridian (basic system/voicemail programming)
WWW server technologies (IIS-6, SSL)
Remote access technologies (Terminal Services, VPN, IAS, RADIUS, PPTP, IPSec, etc.)
E-mail systems administration (MS Exchange)
Print Server administration
Backup/restore and archiving technologies (ArcServe/Backup Exec)
Basic database server administration (MS SQL-2000;
Wiring and cabling standards for 10/100/1000 Mb. Ethernet networks
Basic LINUX (Debian) administration/support
You must be able to resolve complex problems and be a technical consultant on issues relating to your expertise. You have excellent communication skills and have proven internal customer support experience. Finally you must be able to lift and carry fifty pounds.
