We all like to pay less to have the same service.
For example,to buy a express student pass:

You could save money by paying the annual fare.

If you can pay $576.00 to buy the express student annual pass,able to save $154.00 instead of paying $60.00 by monthly.

If you only need to use bus passes less than 10 months a year, it's actually cheaper to buy the monthly pass than the annual fare.

I ride bicycle most of the time from April to November. That saves $450 a year.

This year I'm getting more experienced on cycling and may ride bicycle though the whole winter, except the worst storm days. That would save $600 a year.

You can pay less to save money. But do not pay too much time to save money. When you can not save more money, you will have a decision to make more money.

That's why I always teach our chinese fellows "You can save 80% savable money by spending 20% spendable time."

I did cycling from 1991 to 1995 all year long and parked my car in the parking lot and I did save over one thousand dollars per year.
