Shore Pass
If your stop-over in Japan, enroute to another country, is less than 72 hours, you are eligible to apply for a Shore Pass at the port of entry. You must show your airline/ship ticket as proof of your final destination, valid passport and your Canadian Immigration Document to prove your Canadian residency. The Japanese Embassy, however, does not guarantee an applicant will receive a Shore Pass since the final decision rests with the authority of the Immigration Officer at the port of entry. Application for Shore Pass must be processed through the carrier, therefore applicants should notify their carrier in advance.
