what happens if the car starts and then stops

my aged volove can start but if i release the brake paddle, it will shut down. engine is off itself.

it does not matter how long i have started. but it seems better off if i put better gas. it seems it can only run with the superior gas and it will be a little bit better if i run and stop,then run again.

i do not whether it could be the line, the wire, plug or the distributor cap or the battery.
