我的车昨天送给一个GARAGE修, 因我感觉TRANSMISSION工作有点不正常,(自动档)80公里以下是好的,但上80后就不再换到更高了. 那家伙半中间打电话来,说需要拿出TRANSMISSION来查,问我是不是GO AHEAD, 我同意了,(我根本不知道COST和危险性)结果今天他打来电话说,问题找到了,需要换主要部件,加LABOUR, 共$2500.

That's terrible, if I know they would take 15 hours for just figuring out what is the problem, I won't repair any way. It is just a used car!

朋友,你觉得他有问题吗?查问题要这么久!

帮帮我, 我应该举续修吗?

My poor friend, the go ahead is very important before you know the cost.
For now, even if you don't have it fixed, they still charge for taking out, and that's almost same as repair I guess.
What you can do is to ask for the repair price, if it's quite low from inspection, you woulk consider more carefully, you can quit and get nothing; if the repair price is almost same as inspection, negotiate with them, and then say go ahead to fix it.
$2500 is not a cheap price really:smokin:

Only the labor for transission take-out should be around 5 hours,maybe more than 5, plus open trans and inspect and take out some parts, so,,,I don't know if the 15 hours are ok:smokin:

我没提到$2500是指USED PART(TRANSMISSION), 一年或2万公里WARRANTY;
若是新的,要OVER4000$.

我的车是JETTA, 不知道就是它换TRANSMISSION这么贵,还是所有车都一样?

现在我该怎么办呢? 用USED PART吧, 即担心再出问题, 又觉得也不便宜, 而且主要是觉得很不爽! 本来用得好好的,没觉得有这么大问题, 况且DEALER也没说清楚,光是查问题CHARGE这么多!!! 但是,我又不可能买新的,几乎和我车一样价了!........

欧洲车零件本来就不便宜.另外不知道你去那家车行的LABOUR是多少钱一小时。我记得VW/AUDI是80/h.,BMW是99/h

Totally 2050$, including everything.

那难道你不修车了吗？如果真出点什么事故，到时候还不止花这么多钱呢。其实具体问题应该具体分析，如果真要花这么多钱才能安全的话，也就认栽吧。安全第一呀

To be honest, I thought like you in the very beginning. But after arguing with the boss, I think both of us have responsibilities, and he at least did lots of work on the car.

His fault:

He should really tell me how much it's gonna be if going ahead to take out the transmission. (He answered that he supposed that I know the transmission repair is very expensive for sure, and he cannot give real estimation because he didn't what kind of parts are broken.)

My fault:

As 功夫 said, I should be very careful before saying "go ahead", I should ask the estimation beforehand.

The boss presented me what works he has done, what problems were there. He showed me how many dealers he asked for the used part, price comparison, warranty comparison, and so on.

You know, I feel so bad for suddenly being charged so much money. That is at least a lesson!
