Have a second-round interview next week. Now I need help to answer the 'salary expectation' question, which might be brought up. How to avoid underpaid when I am not familiar with the market?
I'd appreciate all responses.

Most companies have a relatively stable set of salary standards, so unless you are exceptional (good or bad), there is little room for negociation.

Contractors are something else though. It all depends on the requirements of the position, as well as your own skill set and experience. What do you do? What kind of position it is?

Google yourself, and find a range for a similar position in your region, and that will be your starting point to negotiate. For me, I asked for $3000 more than my employer initally offered.
