Qualifications: As service providers around the world begin to move from trials to actual deployment of TV over DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) services, Alcatel is a key player for enabling this exciting service which is becoming key to operators offering a "Triple Play" of voice, data and video capabilities over their DSL network. Fuelled by the rapid growth in demand for bandwidth-intensive broadband services, telecommunications service providers are bolstering their service offerings by incorporating entertainment services into their broadband portfolios. Our Team delivers xDSL solutions for the Central Office and beyond based on Alcatel's market leading DSLAM - the 73xx ASAM and ISAM platforms. Our products are used by the vast majority of leading Telcos worldwide, and we lead the world market with over 35% market share. DSL Software Designers contribute to the complete project life cycle from estimation, architecture, analysis and design, implementation and feature testing. Candidates require a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent and a minimum of 3 years of relevant software experience.
Required skills:
- C/C++
- Embedded software development
- Programming experience with Intel network processors
- Object Oriented A/D
- Software development process and methodology experience
- Development of datacom/telecom applications (ATM and/or IP)
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communications skills
- Testing and debugging experience
- Planning and organization, self-confident, effective & results oriented.
Asset skills:
- Programming experience with non-Intel network processors
- VxWorks RTOS
- DSL knowledge
- Knowledge of IP protocols (802.x)
- Rational Clearcase, DDTS
- Multi-site development
- CMM / TL9000 processes
