You are wrong on this. Check out some website on how Bruce Lee started his Martial Arts training. He spent lots of time with his WingChun master in HK. He late learnt other forms of martial arts and later on invented his own. He admitted himself that without his 咏春拳, he would never be able to invent his own.

Bruce Lee's style?

Correctly Bruce Lee's style is of WingChun. Of course, he made some of the moves more elegant for movie productions. WingChun is never meant to look good as a demonstration, but it's a solid defence technique again bigger opponents. This is an ideal form of KungFu for Chinese here.

Nobody can achieve the level of 咏春拳, as of Bruce Lee, without first learning the basic of 咏春拳. One can say 截拳道 is a very high level of 咏春拳. You would be wasting your time if you start learning 咏春拳 without any basic 咏春拳 trainings.

基本上有名气的工夫他都是黑带... 当然最擅长的是螳螂拳/散打和太极...
