请教各位:

Hull的房子价格好像比渥太华的便宜,特别是Aylmer的。买Quebec的房子有什么弊病吗?

Design is different (say no ensuite or power room), tax is a little bit higher.., language is different... BUT, the house price is much cheaper...

房子地税比这边低一点,
但个人所得税比这边高很多。

楼主请自己做个调查

感觉在这个坛子里的人跟本不了解GATINEAU,HULL,AYLMER.
还是自己眼见为实

Here is the link for personal tax calculation (at year 2004 tax rate)
http://www.ey.com/GLOBAL/content.nsf/Canada/Tax_-_Calculators_-_Personal_Tax

For a family income of $75,000, Quebec residence pays $5000 more that those of Ontario. However, now Ontarioese now have to pay medical insurance starting from July 1 this year, water (water is free or included in the Quebec's property tax). If you have a child or more, your tax will be much lower that the above noted calculation...

Take consideration of all other factors, tax in Quebec is just a little bit higher (maybe lower if you have 3 or more kids)...

I was only talking about the tax in Quebec, and as you stated, it is much higher indeed. However if you consider all other costs, i.e. property tax, child daycare cost, tuition, etc., it may be worthwhile to move to Quebec, but the situation is different for each family, there is no set "rules". Then you'll need to learn to deal with the language, many people find that difficult.

When I lived in Montreal, water was part of hydro bill, but it wasn't free.

Really? Water was part of hydro bill? I remembered several months ago, I was thinking buy a home in Gatineau, the sales from Brigil told me that water is free... Anyway, after considering Language issue, I still decided to stay at Ottawa side... :)

Bingo! Purchasing a home is a big decision, should consider all factors, and it's really personal, no set rules.
