As my computer getting slower and slower, I'm thinking to update the memory from 128M to 512M (or 1G maybe).

Anyone knows where I can buy memory chips in Ottawa? and how do I know what kind of memory I could use on my PC? Thanks!

I just upgraded my computer from 128 to 256MB. I bought RAM from future shop at $29.99 after rebate (well, that is nomial price. I paid 30 someting after tax). But the rebate ends last week. Watch the future shop flyer and they may do it again.

Thanks!

Further question: I saw their RAM marked as PC66, PC133, etc. What does that mean? Is it bound to my PC speed or it just mean how fast the RAM itself?

Also some marked as SDRAM, some are Rambus, DDR, what are those? How do I know which one could be used on my PC?

Sorry for the questions. I have been away a long time from the DIY world.

I'm not an expert by any means, but pc66, pc100 and pc133 are related to the access speed of RAM. That means the RAm can go as fast as that. But if your motherboard doesnt support that speed, you cannot reach that speed.

I guess the most popular one is sdram. The number of pins are different at least for SDRAM and Rambus. I don't know DDR. If you're not sure, you cannot pull out the chips and bring it with you to store. The sales should know.

I just saw Future Shop's ads., and there is a sale for RAM again. For 128MB, it is $29.99. Not bad. If you need it, go and check it out.

先看你的主板说明,能够支持多大内存,每个插槽最大可支持多大内存。

然后看看你现在的内存,一般都是PC133,SDRAM比较贵,DDR也更不太可能。

Memory with size 128MB is too small for now. They waste your sluts.
