New Grad for Unix/Linux Lab Administrator role.

Essential Functions:
The main function of the position is to maintain the integrity of Unix/Linux systems in a development/test lab environment, as well as a small production environment. Typical duties will include performing workstation and server set up and administration, and installing/upgrading system software. The successful candidate will also be responsible for software and hardware inventories, and managing access to the test systems by development and verification resources. He or she will also provide input to hardware and system software planning and work with other local teams (Wintel and Networking) to plan and execute any changes to the environment.
Essential Knowledge:
The successful candidate should have sound knowledge of the following technologies: Unix operating systems (at least one of HP-UX, Solaris, AIX), Linux, scripting (shell, Perl), Network LAN technologies in a multi platform environment. Knowledge of the following technologies is a definite asset: Unix installation/cloning technologies (e.g. Ignite, Jumpstart, Kickstart), NetApp Filer.
Essential Education:
Graduate of a computer sciences program from an accredited University or College.
Essential Skills:
General Competency Requirements: Sound understanding of UNIX system support activities. Good knowledge/awareness of systems management tasks and experience of providing support is a definite asset. Good oral, written communication skills. Ability to work independently or in a team environment. Effective time management and self-management skills. Demonstrated problem solving skills and ability to prioritize and work with others in a fast paced environment.
Organizational "Fit" Considerations:
The individual will be working as part of an integrated and geographically dispersed team responsible for developing standard operating environments (SOE) for several flavors of Unix/Linux. It may require some work outside of regular business hours. It is an entry level position, but there is considerable opportunity to expand responsibilities over time.
