french immersion program

My kids are going to the pre-school in September this year. We are contemplating abount the french immersion program. But the problem is that they don't know english good enough yet. Anyone in similar situation? What are your thoughts? I know that the common wisdom is that kids are easy to pick up language but still..

Any thoughts?

Bickering aside, there are some excellent points. I strongly believe that learning a new language only enhances one's understanding of his/her native language.

If your kids are gifted at languages, taking French program should be fine.

My daughter started school year ago when she didn't know any English, but very well Chinese. Now she speaks English at school, learning French at school, speaks Chinese at home. I feel it is better to let him/her pick up one lauguage at one time, then another. Now she can use Chinese explain English, and use English explain French.

男孩呢?

有人说， french immersion program 到后面只有十分之一是男孩， 是真的吗？
我儿子今年也要上kinder-garden， 打电话给 french immersion school, 接电话的女士 的英语就带有很强的法语口音. 我周围的同事 bi-lingual 的不少, 不过两种语言都讲得很纯正的并不多,大概要多少有些语言天赋吧.

另外,儿子一直在条件不错的day-care 里. 不知道kanata, 尤其是beavebrook 的两所小学( 一个stephan leacoak, 一个 w. Erskine Johnston) 的public kindergarden 到底怎么样? 有经验的妈妈, 能介绍一下吗. 好难选择呀.

Is she going to a French immersion school?

Maybe later. I will think about it when she needs go to elementry school.

Early French Immersion starts at SK not grade 1.Middle French Immersion starts at grade 3. Stephan leacoak is a fairly good french immersion school. All JK are english.
