Senior Embedded Software Developer
Full Time Permanent
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•All tasks related to the full design cycle of personal deliverables. This includes organizing own work activities and potentially those of other team members for high quality and timely delivery of the end product.
•Weekly progress reporting on work activities and issues encountered.
•Debug field issues as required
•Work directly with customer as required. This may include occasional travel to customer sites to support development work
•Write and maintain up-to-date design documentation related to development activities
•Miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Several years experience in one or more of the following:
•Real-time embedded software development
•Development based on real time operating systems, e.g. embedded Linux, VxWorks •3-5 years experience as a software developer for telecommunications applications
•In depth knowledge of one or more of the following families of network/embedded processors ? Intel, AMCC, Agere, Motorola
•Track record of delivering high quality work items
•Software development for routing or switching based applications. Experience on Nortel, Alcatel, Cisco routing and switching products would be an asset.
•Knowledge of network management and diagnosis/troubleshooting techniques.
•Ability to effectively allocate time to multiple activities
•Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments with others
•Ability to estimate time required to complete tasks
•Plan and obtain equipment required to complete tasks
•Ability to work independently or as part of a team
•Ability to move to a team lead role or report to a team lead as required
•Good English verbal, written and presentation skills. Fluency in Russian would be an asset, but is not a requirement.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with people from diverse backgrounds
