By Youth, for Youth
Concert for Tsunami Relief
by Young Musicians in the National Capital Region
2:30 PM, January 30, 2005
Auditorium, the Library and Archives Canada
395 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario Canada K1A 0N4
Compassion for the victims of the recent tsunami has transcended all divisions in humanity. This disaster has touched all of us as we are all too aware that the awesome wrath of Nature is both boundless and indiscriminate.
Many of the scars and wounds that our kindred in Asia have suffered may never be healed, yet we, young musicians from the Canadian National Capital Region, want to do what little we can to help the youth affected by the tsunami.
In order to help these children, we would like to hold a music concert. All the proceeds of this concert will go to the children affected by the tsunami via the Canadian Red Cross Society.
The music on the programme will try to capture our feelings―that of pathos, compassion, empathy, hope―about the recent catastrophe and the subsequent efforts to help those who have lost everything. We have won various music scholarships as well as numerous national, provincial, and regional awards. We are also honoured to have Dr. Elaine Keillor, professor of Music at Carleton University, as our Artistic Director for the event.
