Confirmed by Ministry of Finance (Ontario): after May 18, 2004, no new OHOSP could be opened and no new contributions could be made to existing plans for Ontario tax credit purposes; the OHOSP program will completely end on December 31, 2005.

A law related to this was passed on Dec 16, 2004.

Does anyone know if OHOSP has really ended or not? I received a notice last year indicationg Finance Ontario was proposing to end this program on Dec 31, 2005 but with the following note:

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LEGISLATION MUST RECEIVE PASSPAGE BY THE LEGISLATURE AND ROYAL ASSENT TO BECOME LAW.

However, I haven't receive further notice about this topic so far. I checked its website and couldn't find anything related to this. Does anyone have info about this? Thanks!

Thanks, Jianjian. However, I don't know if the proposal has been approved or passed as a law or not. Because there is a note as I mentioned above:

I will contact them to see what's the status.

Okay, got the confirmation: the proposal was passed on Dec 16, 2004. No contribution could be made to OHOSP anymore. Thanks, guys!
