Who has contested the assessed value for property tax on your home?

Has anybody contested the assessed value on your home for property tax? What is the outcome of your request for reconsideration? Has anybody gone further than the RFR?

They said they are right! I'll directly go to appeal without RFR next year.

我准备appeal。我先通过RFR，结果他们坚持他们的assessment。我以前在另外一个城市有经验，觉得这里做得不对。为此我做了一些research(主要是google)，还问了一家专帮人解决assessment的公司，更坚定了我的信念。不过有很多技巧，网上也有这方面的资讯。

一个很重要的Tips就是抽时间去打此官司的小法庭（类似交通高票和房东房客官司），看看别人都是些什么情况（大部分的人情况很类似），怎样打赢（或输），为什么，避免犯低级错误。

我觉得property tax是年年有，如果你不争取，会一年比一年多。一旦弄清楚这程序，以后每年都顺很多。欢迎大家与我互相交流经验。

我是因为半年前买房，MLS上买的，属市场价，可估价超过两万多。以前我卖房，在另外一个城市，也是估价超过listing price两万多。打电话给assessment，来了一个小伙子，屋里屋外照了几张像，马上就降了。可这里居然不理。

问了专打官司的公司（可去黄页，under "tax consulation"），说我赢的可能性99%，所以我决定自己试。但是我做了一些研究，大家若英文够好，多google，有好多例子和方法（包括怎么找那些公司打官司）。若大家能多交流更好。

I contacted two firms yesterday and provided roll numbers of my house. They are going to do a preliminary assessment to see if there is a winning case. They will get back to me in a couple of days. Preliminary assessment is free of charge. If they don't feel I have a winning case, I won't waste time to appeal.

One of the consulting firms called and said I wouldn't have a case. It's disappointing. I am waiting to hear from the other firm.
