OTTAWA ? Ottawa police are warning people in the south end about a series of overnight break-ins at homes in the area.
In each incident, a male has been entering homes through unlocked doors and windows while the residents are asleep upstairs.
The intruder looks for purses and wallets, then removes the cash.
In all but one incident, the thief kept to the main floor, and was careful not to wake the residents.
Police suspect one person acting alone is responsible for the break-ins. They are reminding people to lock their doors and windows.
If you are awakened by an intruder in your home, police say the best response is to call out and give the intruder a chance to escape.
