The Volunteer Bureau in partnership with Career Services at Carleton University is hosting a volunteer information session entitled Focus on Volunteer Opportunities in Engineering & Design and Science. This session will be of value to Carleton students who want to learn first hand from you about why they should volunteer to get into their desired career field.
We would like for you to share with them how you got into your career by volunteering
Where and what type of volunteer work you did.
How the volunteer work you did was useful for your career.
What types of volunteer opportunities are available in your field and/or what opportunities relate to the field.
The expectation from organizing these Volunteer Information Sessions is that students will come to the understanding of the value and the importance in volunteering. Volunteering would allow students to gain hands on experience and learn the skills they would need to use in the future. At the same time it would allow them to not only gain valuable experience for themselves but they would be giving back to the community. We should encourage students to discover that university education is not learned only from books but from real people and real communities as well.
The Focus on Volunteer Opportunities in Engineering & Design and Science information session will be held on Wednesday, February 9 from 6pm to 7:30pm in Baker's Lounge.
For more information you can visit our website at www.carleton.ca/career/volunteer_bureau. You can contact the Volunteer Bureau at vbc@carleton.ca or 613-520-2600 x1858.
We encourage you to attend and share your knowledge and experience with Carleton students.
