Entering the final two days of budget debate, Ottawa homeowners are facing a 4.1 per cent property tax increase.
Councillors have found about 3.3 million dollars in cuts and savings to help the bottom line.
Mayor Bob Chiarelli is still warning there is hundreds of millions of dollars to be examined and his tax target remains at 4.4 per cent or lower.
On Wednesday, Council added 887-thousand dollars to the 2005 budget with the hiring of 20 new paramedics. 18 paramedics will be hired in 2006.
Council also approved 280-thousand dollars for eight public health inspectors and 200-thousand dollars in funding for a Crime Prevention Centre.
