hi y'all,
has any graduated non-citizen ever found a job for an American company here in Canada within the 90 day period? I was told I can't work for an american company today.this is a message from the recruiter,

"Listen I have sent your info to L.A and they told me that they cannot hire people in Canada without papers. Since this is not a canadian company we cannot apply for a work permit either. If you had your working status we would not hesitate on hiring you. I apologize for the inconvenient as I see you very interested and qualified. Please hold until we open another position in your home country."unquot

i am planning to call their L.A headquarters tomorrow and defend myself using the 90 day policy, or should I not do that and that message was just a rejection in a euphemistic manner?

somebody might use the link someday

中国公民有加拿大的work permit可以溜到美国工作吗?
还是要另外再申请美国的work permit,如果要申请,是在这边申请还是到美国申请还是得回中国申请?
谢谢知情人士告知。

NO

YES

I think you need H-1B visa and you can apply here but you need a sponsoring U.S. employer. Not too too sure about the details.

no actually im applying for US company whos setting up a branch here, they say I need Canadian work status, I just wonder if I could get a work permit to work for an american firm here, would it matter if the employer is a US firm or a Canadian firm, in terms of getting a work permit, if anybody could riddle me that.

thanks for all the helps, i'll be researching for all the legal documents that might help my argument tomorrow, only 8 days left, my time's ticking, but i'd fight for any half chances, i dont come here to be weak

they just using this as an execuse for not hiring you........

your statement is not true.
A Canadian branch of US company should only hire people who can work legally in Canada. So I believe they are asking for a Canadian work-permit not a US one.

For your situation, you need to convience the hiring manager about the fact that you are legally to be hired within 90 days of graduation. And the work permit will be obtained once the job offer is in place. Explain to him/her than this is part of the government process for internation student who graduate in a Canadian university. Forward the link to him/her for verification. and please clear indiacte where the information can be found in the webpage. The key here is to convinece the person to go beyound the regualr hiring process, and look into a special case. Rememebr you are seeking for their help, not to argue.

If you want to stay in Canada, I suggest you to check out the Province Nomination program. Some province has lower immigration requirements (each province has different requirement). If you are qualified for their program, the province will nominate you, and you will by-pass all the federal government immigration requirements.

Good luck to your immigration

heyo,
thanx for helping out,i actually did showed them today the CIC link, along with the link form HRSDC, they agreed to take another look at my papers, the problem is tho, I dont think they have registered an office in Canada yet, which is rational, whats the point of keeping an empty office when theres a 3-4 months trainning period, (this round of recruiting will be their national debut in Canada),but I dont see any advantatge a Canadian citizen would have over me in this case, would there be tax incentives or what, really not a clue, well, i feel that i did tried, and if I was in the manage's position, i wouldnt hire myself, theres gonna be lots of managerial time engaged, lots of uncertainties, and they have to consider my succession after one year, cuz HRSDC and CIC said the permit cant be extended. and since the office would be in Montreal, none of the literature I've read so far suggest that a foreign graduate(not from a Quebecois U) is exempted for the MRCI application in Quebec. so anything that happens would be a bonus, but thanks B

jk23,

If this is your opportunity you are looking for, then try your best to grasp it. As for the hiring manager point of view, he/her would ask such question, what happen to this empolyee after one year? Is he going to leave? If so, then we have to hire someone again, and it is costly.
If he can extend his visa for another visa, then what happen after second year? He is going to leave, and we have to hire another person again? The most important point is here is to clear all these uncertainties for your future empolyers. Write a roadmap of your plan. Since you will be qualify for federal immigration requirements if you have one year of working experience (Canadian experience or oversea experience), you may want to tell your empolyer that you will apply for immigartion. Once you have the immigration status, you are allow to work anytime and anywhere in Canada.
If your plan can answer all the hiring manager's concerns, it would help them to make the decision.

yo, observer, I did mentioned that i will apply for immigration, but the road plan thing is a phenomenal idea!! i will give them another mail monday about the whole immigration thing, thanx again, u r amazing, research time
