房屋保险需要Sewers backup吗？

请问
我刚买的新房，房屋保险时，需要Sewer backup （Sewers and weeping tile backup) 吗？ 朋友说新房不用买那个。
大家的意见如何？谢谢

Just talk to those living in Shirley's Brooke whose homes were flooded last year due to sewer backup.
I have it, it's only a few dollars ($7?) if I'm not mistaken.

Those houses were built before one province construction by-law took effective sometime early Y1998 or 1999 which required all houses installing the sewer back-up valve which prevent the sewer water from backing up to the house..

so all new houses in Ontario have those valve installed, now you decide whether or not you need to buy this.

I'm pretty sure that all these new homes in Shirley's Brooke also have this so called sewer backup valve installed as part of the new home standard, but you never know what would happen with Mother Nature.

p.s. Ontario building code has not significantly changed since I believe 1992, only minor amemdements were made.

It may cover your cost to dig up and install a new pipe, isn't it?
