Local Agencies Serving Immigrants (LASI) World Skills offers programs to help newcomers or landed immigrants to access employment opportunities.
Currently, LASI offers two employment programs:
Job Search Workshop
This is a general three day workshop designed for landed immigrants and convention refugees to prepare themselves to enter the Canadian work force. Topics of the workshop includes:
* Networking Techniques
* Cover letter writing technique
* Successful Interview Strategies and Practice
* Targeted Resume Develpment
* Researching the labour Market
* Career Planning
* Self Assessment
* Sources of Job Leads

Career Access for Newcomers (CAN)
The CAN program is designed specifically for those who have resided in Canada for 10 years or less and who possess foreign/local education and experience in employment sectors such as:
- Education
- Finance & Accounting
- Health care
- Non-IT Engineering
- Trades (e.g. hair dresser, Electrician, Auto Mechanic, and etc.)
The CAN program will support newcomers in their efforts to establish themselves in careers through the provision of information and assistance in the following:
- Labour Market Trends
- Licensing Bodies and Accreditation
- Professional Associations
- Options for Education and Training
- Document Translation
- Bridging Programs
- Networking

LASI World Skills is a recognized leader in responding to the needs of the local labour market while promoting the skills and talents of New Canadians. Our vision is to build a welcoming community that meets its full potential. We are a not-for-profit organization that offers assistance to more than 2500 immigrants every year through a variety of programs and services, including job search workshops, a resource centre, and sector-specific support for internationally trained professionals and trades people.
World Skills participates in partnerships and projects with the three levels of government, other agencies, and numerous stakeholders to address the barriers and challenges that new Canadians face in their efforts to become fully integrated into the local economy.
LASI World Skills was established in 1997 by a coalition of Local Agencies Serving Immigrants (LASI).The members of this unique partnership are pioneers in the settlement and integration of new Canadians in this region.They are:
* The Catholic Immigration Centre (CIC)
* Immigrant Women Services Ottawa (IWSO)
* Jewish Family Services (JFS)
* Lebanese and Arab Social Services Association (LASSA)
* Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization (OCISO)
* Ottawa Chinese Community Service Centre (OCCSC)
