It may not be because you're reported by someone. I know CarFax would send you an email asking you to declare on a few things if they find that you're checking on large number of quite different cars. They may suspect that you're using their service for business purpose, which is not allowed. Although they claim you can use their service for unlimited number of times before your account expires, they actually still have a "miximum".

Anyway, that's my experience.
