Senior Programmer / Analyst - OTTAWA
Chipworks is the premiere source of knowledge of what’s inside technology through creative investigation and analysis. We are currently seeking a Senior Programmer / Analyst, reporting to the Manager, Business Systems. The primary function of this position is to support the implementation of Chipworks’ IS Business Strategy by providing technical programming and web development support services. You will be responsible for defining specific business requirements and recommending optimal design. The Intermediate Web Developer position reports into this position. Your primary responsibilities will include:
Ensuring that all developed systems meet the needs of the end users and the corporation, by understanding the company’s business procedures, and modeling corporate data architecture accordingly; lead the evolution process of corporate information systems, including recommendations as to the prioritization process
As a member of a project team, developing and optimizing access to corporate databases through performing advanced programming and business and business/technical analysis.
Developing and optimizing back-end databases.
Providing ongoing system support and training, as well as maintenance and enhancements, to ensure that users are effectively using the system and the systems are performing to spec.
The successful candidate has a four-year college degree in an area pertinent to this position, or an equivalent combination of experience and education. MCAD/MCSD certification is strongly desired. Your experience includes strong project management skills, customer relationship building abilities, as well as outstanding technical, design and analytical skills. You have had a minimum of 5 years experience in web development with Microsoft technologies, an excellent track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, and you enjoy being part of a creative, dynamic team environment. Experience in applying standard System Development Life Cycle methodologies, RDMS packages (SQL Serv, MS Access), VB, VBA, C++, design and testing methodologies and techniques is required.
