For the new pet owners and those who want to get a dog or cat, there's some useful info:

Limits on the numbers of dogs and cats:

Spay and Neuter:
Sterilization

Thousands of homeless and unwanted dogs and cats are needlessly euthanized each year. Be a responsible pet owner - have your pet spayed or neutered (sterilized). The reduction in the pet population resulting from sterilization is a benefit to the community in general, reduces the number of unwanted domesticated animals and helps prolong the life of your pet while reducing the incidence of disease. In the long term, it also reduces the cost to taxpayers of animal control.
