Senior Systems Analyst

This is a one-year term position.
Industrial Research Assistance Program
Ottawa, Ontario
Your Challenge
The incumbent will be responsible for providing analyst services, software services, programming support and strategic direction related to the software applications of the Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP), providing advice to the Head of the IM/IT section as well as providing services to regional IRAP members.
Screening Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of work experience and training will also be considered.
Experience
Significant experience in the following:
Systems analysis and design of corporate (i.e. enterprise-wide) applications within a development and/or maintenance environment;
Computer program development and/or maintenance using structured development techniques and current development toolkits;
Provision of database administrative services to maintain complex databases;
Management of software components in a Saleslogix environment associated with a medium-to-large Microsoft SQL Server database environment;
Programming experience in a Saleslogix environment;
Troubleshooting associated with the processes and table structures of a medium-to-large business application;
Maintenance and development of stored procedures and triggers associated with a medium-to-large business application.
Condition of Employment
An enhanced reliability check will be undertaken.

Assessment Criteria
Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:
Technical Competencies
DBA methodologies, practices, tools and techniques associated with the design, development, testing and administration of MS-SQL Server databases.
Proficiency in Saleslogix programming.
Proficiency in Structure Query Language.
Information security techniques, practices and tools. Issues related to applications design in distributed computing environments including partners outside the enterprise.
Project management tools, practices and techniques and extensive knowledge of IRAP processes and best practices.
Ability to undertake research from a variety of sources (web sites, annual reports, literature searches, patent searches, etc.).
Behavioural Competencies
Communication, Initiative, Teamwork, Conceptual and Analytical Ability and Self-knowing and self-development.
Relocation
Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with NRC's relocation policy.
Salary Range
From $60,438 to $73,946 per annum, plus a terminable allowance of $212 per month. The terminable allowance is in effect until such time as a new collective agreement for the bargaining unit is signed.

Under the direction of the Senior Database Administrator, the incumbent manages, coordinates and supports activities related to IRAP database enquires, including setting up, managing and maintaining services for the Branch and providing expertise and help service to IRAP employees for all database services and applications; Provides general help desk support to users through IRAP's National Help Desk system; Provides Saleslogix programming support for development.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of work experience and training will also be considered.
Experience

Relocation
Relocation assistance will be determined in accordance with NRC's relocation policy.
Salary Range
From $27,515 to $49,355 per annum, plus a terminable allowance of $139 per month. The terminable allowance is in effect until such time as a new collective agreement for the bargaining unit is signed.
