前两天在heron gate mall的宠物店里看到好多小狗，大概十几只，都圈在一起，在地上跑来跑去，打来打去，傻乎乎的，可好玩了。你可以去看看有没有你喜欢的。

You can adopt one - there is a shelter between Ottawa and Montreal (about 50 min drive from Ottawa) that has lots of small breed dogs and sometimes puppies:

Put your name on their list and they will call you when they have a match. The cost is $175, including vet checks, vaccines, spay/neuter. If you get a new puppy from a breeder or a farm it will cost you over $300 to get it checked by the vet, get vaccines, and neuter/spay is extra (about $300-$400), altogether you're looking at $800-1000.

Farm dogs often have parasites, fleas, and sometimes hidden health conditions that can't be found till later. It will cost you a lot of money to care for a farm dog even if you get it for free. Adoption is the cheapest way to go, it's like getting a dog for free. And this way you can ensure the health of your dog.

I adopted my second dog from there. Just email them at info@animatch.ca, tell them what kind of breed you want, age, etc and give them your phone number. They will call you or email you back to get detailed info from you, and put you on a waiting list. I only waited a month for my dog Susie. She's a real sweetheart - adopted dogs are very grateful and affectionate because they know you are their savior who gave them a second chance!

Good luck finding the perfect dog...Petfinder.ca is a great website too. Financial wise, it's the best to adopt: it will save you at least $300-600.

Thanks...My Susie is 6 years old, and I adopted her in March. There are many younger dogs and puppies for adoption, but I wanted an older, quieter dog. Hope you find the perfect dog!

I adopted Diego when he was only 7 weeks old, found him on www.petfinder.com.

There was no charge in the adoption, they only asked for a voluntary donation.
