CKC.ca (Canadian Kennel Club) is the governing body that regulates all purebred dogs in Canada, similar to AKC (American Kennel Club). CKC registered means that the dog is a purebred dog.
"The Registration Process: CKC Registration Authority
The registration of purebred dogs in Canada is governed by the Animal Pedigree Act which is administered by the federal Ministry of Agriculture. Under the Act, The Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) is provided with the exclusive authority to register specific distinct breeds of purebred dogs in Canada. In accordance with the Act, CKC has adopted a set of By-laws, to govern the registration of these breeds in Canada. "
However be careful that another CKC.org (Continental Kennel Club) IS NOT A LEGAL GOVERNING BODY!
