if this is the case, you will not get a work permit since your stutus in Canada will still remain as a student visa, and as such you will not be allowed to work full time off campus.

in fact, now adays you do not need the work permit to work part-time on campus if you have a student permit. I hope somebody will set me straight if I am wrong here.
