大家觉的花5000块造个WALKOUT BASEMENT 值吗?

有一个LOT 可做WALKOUT BASEMENT, 但这个LOT 是一个TRANSITION LOT,即这个LOT 处在两个平地面中间的斜坡上. 房子的的左右面土不一样高.
这种LOT 上造WALKOUT BASEMENT 跟其他LOT 有何不同吗? TRANSITION LOT 造房有何不好的地方吗? 另一个可选LOT的BACKYARD 有电,及CABLE 盒.

Not every lot can do walk-out basement, it got to be one end high and one end low..Walk out basement means by default, the builder will finish a room for you in the basement...that's why they charge you 5000 more...

My house is with a walkout basement, it's great...

The potential problem for transition lot, since one end is low (maybe the lowest in your area), when snow melting or with heavy rain, you might be the first one to get caught, but the chance of that is very low (touch wood) ...

For 5K, worth it... but only if you have a nice and flat lot in the back (v.s. slopy) and you really need that extra rooms. But the space there tends to be cold and damp ($$$ to heat it up in the winter, but the summer is NICE!!). Also if you plan to have a deck on the first floor. Then walkout will also be very dark, which defeat some of the purpose of walkout.

I recommend you not to have it totally finished yet. Wait few years or when you really need the room in the basement. The fundation crack happens to 70% home in the first 3 years.

多谢大家的回答. 做WALKOUT BASEMENT, 除了加$5000,可选的LOT 也少了, 剩下的不是TRANSION LOT, 就是后院有高压电盒及CABLE盒.
有WALKOUT BASEMENT呢, 以后房子有扩展空间, 也不会马上装修. BUILDER 的LOT 只有一些LOT 可造WALKOUT BASEMENT. 造的成本是 $5000.
" 小傻 " 这LOT 是在山坡中间, not the lowest in the area. Still lots of house below it.

在TRANSION LOT 上造房及造WALKOUT BASEMENT还有何坏处吗?

If you do it later, it will cost probably $10,000.
just think the fact that you will need to cut the 8" to 10" cement wall.
This is not a simple job.
I have not heard any person complaining walkout basement. Just look at the above comments.

I am a bit confused..Is this $5000 lot premimum (for walk-out basement lot), or the cost the builder charge you for the finished basement?

What 阿童木 said was right...walkout basement and deck (with stairs) have conflicts...I have walkout basement so I could only build patio though I like deck more

Cut the fundation wall? You kidding... I have never heard "aftermarket" walkout. If you need to cut a weightbearing fundation wall, without poping up that side of house, it is suicidal!!

If it is not walkout, you will NEVER have fundation exposed more than 4 feet over the ground (without steps, a shortest patio door is 6 ft ) .... According to Ontario building code, walkout's fundation wall are different than normal ones (that is likely why he is charged 5K more)...

If you choose a walkout lot, you need to spend 5000 more and the builder will build a walkout basement for you.

I decide to build a walkout basement.
