Most rent cars are automatic. but truck may be manual, at least the big U-Haul truck should be manual.

Yes, the cars I rented in England and France were all manual, no automatic.

You mean G2 test? G1 is the paper test, not road test, needing no car.

Yes, you can use a manual car car for G2 test, but it's much more difficult than using automatic, I strongly suggest you don't do that.
