Heee, Rabbit, for Taurus, the fuel filter isn't under the hood. It is located near the fuel tank, and not easy to change it. Last time, I refered to a lot of info, and got a lot of gas in eyes, finally changed it successfully. One fuel filter for Taurus is about $11, but dealer will ask you for $50. Save your money!
HOWEVER, PLEASE GET ALL KNOWLEDGE FROM A GUIDE BEFORE REPLACING, because you need to turn off the gas pumper's power supply and release the gas pressure beforehand.And, you need to lift your car a little bit to make room for your head under the gas tank. Heee, not funny though...
