年末时分的坏消息

好几次layoff都发生在年末，这不
CIBC cut 950 jobs，50 executives got pink slip.
据朋友说她们公司也来个big chunk,
Cognos' Sales fall short of forecast, which is not acceptable, although does not mean layoff, but...
怎么和过年喜庆气氛格格不入啊。

COGNOS好象是这几年OTTAWA IT行业里面最稳定和很有发展的,当NT/JDS之流疯狂裁人的时候,它还大招毕业生.据说给新毕业的本科生,能给到50000-55000刀.没把前NT LAYOFF下来的博士硕士生们气得半死.

COGNOS好象是这几年OTTAWA IT行业里面最稳定和很有发展的,当NT/JDS之流疯狂裁人的时候,它还大招毕业生.据说给新毕业的本科生,能给到50000-55000刀.没把前NT LAYOFF下来的博士硕士生们气得半死.

Cognos once cut off 2/3 people around 10 years ago. Only 600-800 employees survived after that. Some friends in Cognos said that it was a cheap company and was impossible pay 50K to new grads. And never heard it "大招毕业生". It uses a lot of Co-ops instead of new grads. The rate is around $20/hour for Co-ops, but Gov. will pay half for the rate. So it only pays around $10/hour.

原来coop的工钱是政府pay一半啊？

我听说有个人30号被勒，到今天已有5个offers,most in Kanata。
不过那是洋人，senior archtect.

If the senior archtect was laid off, probably his company is closing.

那是一个不小的公司，他那块估计也就玩完了。
不过其他的部门估计也好不了到哪里去，穷途末路的感觉。
BTW，Cognos 的确是个比较cheap的公司，不太喜欢它。

哪天把“上山下乡的知识青年”们逼急了，揭竿而起，组织个EUP,去抢国会议员和政府官员们的工作，估计比现在的他们干得好，只要不腐败下台，据说那种工作赚钱贼多，而且稳定，。
